さて、utakata OPEN最初のエッセイな訳ですが…何を話しましょうかね？
そうだ、最近自分は改めてビジュアル系と言われるこのジャンルの定義を色々考えてみてるんですが、ビジュアル系って一体全体何を示したジャンルなのかな〜？と、1人頭を巡らせてみました。
やはり最初に思い付いたのは、メイクしてカラフルな髪などの外見的なビジュアルなのかな？と。
ですが、昨今の一般の方のメンズメイク率は非常に高く、これってメイクしてるからビジュアル系ってのはもう通用しないのではないかと思ってるのですが、どうでしょう？
髪も、今ではカラフルなヘアスタイルを楽しむ方が一般的に多く、自分の世代だと髪が金髪やら色入ってるってだけでヤンキーかバンドマンなのでは？と思ってたのが、もはや化石…これも、もう該当しないような気がします。
じゃあ、黒い服は？
…普通。
なら音楽性は？
So, this is the first essay after utakata’s opening… What should we talk about?
Oh, right, lately I’ve been thinking about the definition of the genre called “Visual-kei”
again, trying to look back to what exactly this classification stands about.
The first thing coming up to my mind was the visual side of it, with the makeup, the
colorful hair etc.
However, men’s makeup is getting very common among ordinary people in recent years, so I
think that considering makeup as Visual-kei is not valid anymore, don’t you think so?
Same goes for the hair. Many people enjoy having colorful hairstyles nowadays, so thinking
that someone is a baddie or a band member just because of blonde or dyed hair sounds just
like a thought from the stone age… I feel like this isn’t accurate anymore either.
What about black clothing?
… that’s just normal.
So, about the musicality?
